While rebuilding my club’s website in college, I realized how exciting it was to tell visual stories online. Shortly after, I started ClearForm - a digital agency - and built a few more websites, presentations, and branded documents. I managed the projects using Harvest & Basecamp, and it was chaos. Between working with small client budgets and spending more time everyday managing rather than doing the work I loved, I decided to go into the IT side of digital.
I joined Springer Miller- a software company that built one of the first resort information systems with the Trapp Family Lodge in the 70s (yes - the Von Trapps, which Sound of Music covers). With headquarters still in Stowe, Vermont, it’s now used worldwide by Mandarin Oriental, Four Seasons, and Ritz-Carlton.
I oversaw the strategy of Salesforce and the other solutions we were using such as MS Project, Excel, and Tom’s Resource Planner. Humans held the system together: our Project Manager blocked out 4-7pm every Tuesday to put together guesses for the executive team who had to report the implementation projections to shareholders. A scary way to run a business.
Between ClearForm and Springer Miller, I saw a deep need for a solution to running a professional service business. So I joined the leader the space: AffinityLive.
As the head Solution Engineer at AffinityLive, I developed the consultative framework for working with potential customers, created the training program for (and trained) our quickly growing team, revamped how we onboarded new customers, and helped in crafting the product roadmap.
A lot of those coming to AffinityLive were desperate. They had just spent 6 months to a year looking for a solution, were tired of trialing or had been burned by another vendor and were looking for a partner who understood their business and could help them navigate the seemingly monotonous CRM, Project Management, Ticket, and Time tracking landscape.
That’s why I joined as one of the original AffinityLivers and why I became the first dedicated AffinityLive Partner & Consultant.
